Our Story

Evans Oysters was established by my parents in 1994.

Originally wheat and sheep farmers, Tom and Raelene diversified into the newly emerging oyster farming industry to offset crippling droughts. After five busy years working tirelessly between both the land and sea farms, they decided to commit fully to oyster farming in Streaky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia.

At the same time, I was achieving my childhood dream of playing football for Port Adelaide in SANFL and AFL, and becoming a Metropolitan Fire Service firefighter for 10 years; I married, had 2 beautiful children, totally renovated a house and was ‘living the dream’ in Adelaide.

My wife and I grew up in country communities and we knew we wanted that opportunity for our kids.

Taking over the family oyster farm became the perfect scenario for our young family to settle into this country lifestyle.

Eight years on and we still love being part of the Streaky Bay community and enjoying the freedom of living in such a stunning environment.

Streaky Bay is a beautiful seaside town with magnificent beaches and spectacular scenery. Isolated enough to retain its pristine water, it's perfect for raising children and even better for growing the tastiest oysters!

The farm we took over is now three times larger and continuing my father's legacy of producing amazing tasting high quality oysters.

Offering our premium oysters direct to our customers has always been something we have enjoyed..

Being able to harvest oysters one day and deliver them to Adelaide the next allows our customers to enjoy the freshest of oysters

We are excited to provide you the opportunity to experience the fresh flavour usually exclusive to visitors of our seaside town.
